HASSAN: Staff of the Forest Department captured a three-year-old female panther at Hosahalli Kavalu near Hariharapura village in Holenarsipur taluk on Thursday morning.
Sources in the Forest Department said that the panther, which had been troubling the people of Hosahalli Kavalu for the past few weeks, walked into a cage kept in the village. This was the second panther captured in a month. On May 13, a four-year-old male panther was captured at Hosahalli Kavalu. People of the village had appealed to the officials of the Forest Department not to shift the cage as they had spotted three more panthers in the area. The sources said that people of many villages in Arasikere, Arakalagud and Holenarsipur taluks had been facing panther menace since a year. Six months ago, the panther, which was captured on Thursday, attacked a man in Hariharapura village. It had also killed several cattle.
